Science estimates that most humans run on subconscious programming more than 95 percent of the time and less than 5 percent by their conscious level mind. As epigenists Dr. Bruce Lipton explains in the adjacent video most of that subconscious programming is programed during the first 6 years of our life when our brain is in a type hypnotic state recording everything around us like a television camera which is not only base on other people values and beliefs but will influence us for the rest of our lives.
This means that if we live until 80 years old, most humans will live less than 5 years as to who they really are and more than 75 years run by epi programming that is based on other people’s values and beliefs (see social engineering) which some scientist estimate that up to 80 percent of that programming is adverse to our wellbeing and once again because it is subconscious most people will be unaware of the effect that it has on their life this is why it is important to understand how mass media (epi programming) impacts our mind.
When we are submerged in reading books, listing to music, playing video games, watching television or movies and other epi programming the brain is in what neuroscientist refer to as Alpha or Alpha-Theta state, a type of hypnotic or imaginative stage of a combination of the conscious and subconscious mind in which one seamlessly blends the real and dream worlds together (see adjacent video) in other words you are hypnotized.
During this Alpha-Theta or hypnotic imaginary state of mind our perceptions, values and beliefs base on not only our transgenerational epigenetic inheritance but also the way we were raise as a child during our learning years and programed out through life that is stored in our subconscious level of mind activates a cocktail of hormones in our body such as serotonin, endorphins, dopamine, cortisol and adrenal that produce emotional reactions to what we are reading, viewing, or hearing.
SUBCONSCIOUS LEVEL OF MIND

While the conscious mind can distinguish between television, books, music, video games, movies, etc. and the environments in which they are used such as your living room, library, movie theater, sports arenas, concert halls, etc., the subconscious mind cannot, the subconscious mind is a recording reactive or spontaneous level of mind that cannot judge between what is right or wrong or what a real world situation is and what is not and only records and responses to the information or epi programming given to it.
HOW WE ARE PROGRAMMED
As the provided video shows just like leaning how to walk or driving a car the result would be that we would have a spontaneously positive effect or reactions to how we live, and perceive our lives without having to consciously thinking about being positive, loving, peaceful or happy, once again because it would be a spontaneous subconscious epi programming.
In other words if we are constantly exposed to epi programming (mass media) that activates a cocktail of positive hormones (serotonin, endorphins, dopamine) that constantly nourish our body with good feelings of accomplishment of what we learn or do, or feelings of love peace and happiness these positive programs and emotions would become epi subconscious programing.
Books - Movies - Television - Music - Video Games
These biological or epigenetic changes in our body allows us to feel frightened during a horror movie, newscast, etc. or romantic while reading a romance novel, seeing a romantic movie, or happy or sad when listening to a song, in other words changing the physiology of our body through our perceptions of the epi programming we are exposed to.
As the adjacent video explains repetition of information or in this case epi programming we are exposed to creates neural pathways, as we create more neural pathways making them stronger, what we are trying to learn or the information we are taking in through our conscious level of mind may it be through books, television, video games, movies, the internet, etc. enters our subconscious level of mind which is a spontaneous level and therefore becomes epi subconscious programming, this includes the emotional reactions we have off what we are viewing, and or hearing.
Positive Epi Programming
Negative Epi Programming
On the other hand if we are constantly exposing ourselves with negative or even violent epi programing through what we hear and see through mass media that releases cortisol and adrenal that activate emotions of fear, anger or distress which weakens and can even shut down our immune system that can exposes us to illness and even death it only makes sense that these negative epi programs and emotions would also go through the same epigenetic process and become epi negative subconscious programming
I (Rob) am very familiar with these spontaneous subconscious negative programs and feelings, for I had wonder for years why no matter how will things were going in my life why I was feeling a type of background distress in my body or even at times it seemed as if my mind was looking for negativity which would trigger a cascade of negative thoughts and has a result cortisol and adrenal that would bring feels of worry, fear, resentment, anger distress even to the point of anxiety.
"If you don't control your mind, someone else will." - John Allston.
Now don’t get me wrong there were many factors such as my child abuse, the hood and military to consider but that said there is no doubt in my mind that mass media also played a major role. That was until I wake up and changed my epi subconscious programing. Therefore we must emphasize that we recognize that they are other psychological, biological and neurological considerations when dealing with emotions but that said as you will see in the following research epi programming certainly plays a major role in influencing our thinking, emotions and as a result our life.
